For the first time since I can remember, I want to bring back regular JCR meetings, open spaces where everyone can have a say in how our community is run.
These meetings shouldn’t feel like formal obligations but genuine conversations: a chance to share ideas, raise concerns, and celebrate what’s going well.
Reintroducing them will rebuild transparency, accountability, and a sense of collective ownership in our JCR. Whether it’s deciding how we spend funds, improving facilities, or planning events, I want every student to feel empowered to shape the direction of our community.
The University is changing, and so is the way college staff operate. By December, all local staff will be shared with the rest of West Campus, meaning fewer dedicated staff members within James itself.
If reelected, I’ll make sure this transition is smooth and supported, keeping the JCRC running effectively and ensuring our students’ voices stay heard to both Senior management at the University and YorkSU even when college staff may be spread thin. Regular JCR meetings (with free pizza) will be held for the whole JCR to have input.
As part of my promise, I am continuing to back the demands called for by the 2024 College Chairs and Presidents across the University called for. Colleges are an asset to the University and they should be treated as a priority.
Is your wardrobe missing some pristine James College merch? Of course it is. Merch has been scarce these past couple years, but fear not!
If elected, I’ll work directly with the University Merch Store to make James College a pioneer in year-round merch availability. That means consistent stock, fresh designs, and even global delivery for everyone, keeping our alumni in mind.
